What is the project?

The initial plan for ‘Together in Isolation’ is a photographic project to document the people and places of Syston in Lincolnshire. Every household in the village has been invited to take part. For those that do so, an environmental portrait will be taken of the family outside of their homes. First prints of the portraits will be made and can be ‘bought’ upon donation to a charity ‘bucket’. The bucket will be split evenly and the proceeds donated to 2 causes: Macmillan Cancer Support and also the funds for the Syston village church.

Each shot will be taken of the front of the house of property. Social distancing ( the 2m rule) will be adhered to at all times so it is expected that the camera will be placed either in the middle of the road or on the pavement opposite to the house.

The project will result in a collection of portraits that will snapshot the inhabitants of Syston but also capture the state of the buildings and housing that make up the built environment. The collection will freeze time, people and place.
